Time-resolved qubit readout via nonlinear Josephson inductance
نویسندگان
چکیده
We propose a generalization of dispersive qubit readout that provides the time evolution of a flux qubit observable. Our proposal relies on the nonlinear coupling of the qubit to a harmonic oscillator with high frequency, representing a dc superconducting quantum interference device. Information about the qubit dynamics is obtained by recording the oscillator response to resonant driving and subsequent lock-in detection. The measurement process is simulated for the example of coherent qubit oscillations. This corroborates the underlying measurement relation and also reveals that the measurement scheme possesses low backaction and high fidelity. 5 Author to whom any correspondence should be addressed. Resonant readout of a superconducting persistent current qubit
Superconducting Josephson junction devices rank among the best candidates for realizing a quantum computer. While the coherent control of quantum dynamics has been demonstrated in these solid-state, macroscopic quantum systems, a major challenge has been to increase the coherence times for these qubits. With an objective to reduce the level of readout-induced decoherence, this thesis work focus...

The Cooper pair box qubit of a two-junction-SQUID configuration enables the readout of the qubit states by probing the effective Josephson inductance of the SQUID. This is realized by coupling the qubit to a high-Q tank circuit which induces a small alternating supercurrent in the SQUID loop. The effect of a small (but finite) geometrical inductance of the loop on the eigenstates of the system ...
متن کاملNonlinear resonant behavior of a dispersive readout circuit for a superconducting flux qubit
A nonlinear resonant circuit comprising a SQUID magnetometer and a shunting capacitor is studied as a readout scheme for a persistent-current qubit. The flux state of the qubit is detected as a change in the Josephson inductance of the SQUID magnetometer, which in turn mediates a shift in the resonant frequency of the readout circuit. The nonlinearity and resulting hysteresis in the resonant be...

We present a new readout method for a superconducting flux qubit, based on the measurement of the Josephson inductance of a superconducting quantum interference device that is inductively coupled to the qubit. The intrinsic flux detection efficiency and backaction are suitable for a fast and nondestructive determination of the quantum state of the qubit, as needed for readout of multiple qubits...
